Belly

What does this have to do with anything, you ask? Nothing. I'm just touching down between Christmas visits...off on a day trip tomorrow to visit family and I think I'll be fasting. How about you? Full to the gills with Egg Nog and Whoville Roast Beast and Great Aunt Velma's casserole and Red Velvet Cake? What's always at your Christmas feast?

  1. I'll get it started: we always seem to have Shoepeg Corn and Green Bean Casserole (with bell pepper, onion, cheese, sour cream and cheez-its on top). My sister introduced a new macaroni and cheese yesterday, and I have a feeling it will be making future appearances, too.

  2. HWM's parents started what we have decided is a new family tradition...Paula Deen's Spiral Sliced, Smithfield Ham with the crunchy topping...yum-o

We also have to have Pistachio Salad, oddly this tasted fantastic with the ham.

Also, it would not be christmas without a Plaza Bakery Cake...it's a local thing.

I am glad you are having a wonderful holiday.

    Love ya,

  3. For the greater family we always have dressing from my Grandmother's recipe - complete with "add this until is looks or tastes 'right'". Sweet potato casserole is always a popular part.

For Christmas morning, our family has a tradition of cinnamon rolls shaped into a Christmas wreath only the cinnamon flavor comes from ground up red hots. Very pretty!

  4. Our Christmas feast was filled with ham, turkey, and lots of gravy, noodles, and crescent rolls.

I'm still full from Thanksgiving, so it was tough to get it all down.

I hope you had a Merry Christmas and best wishes for a Happy New Year!

  6. Are you ready for this?

Christmas morning is started with a homemade brownie topped with homemade icing.....better known at this house as Jesus' birthday cake.

It's soooooooo sweet at such an early hour but that's what we have for breakfast.

Dinner was simple but delicious! Spiral ham, scalloped potatoes, the BEST green beans, rolls and pumpkin pie! Hmmmmmm.....

    Merry Christmas!
