Can You Tell the Difference?

The first image is the image I shot 'on meter', meaning at the settings I chose.

The second image is an HDR (high dynamic range) image which combined the image above with two more which were one stop of light more (lighter) and one stop of light less (darker) than the image above.

Now, this was a remedial trial of HDR using Photoshop, but I can see how there are more details in the shadowed areas and the highlight areas compared to the first image.  I kind of like it, but I don't think I'll be creating HDR from everything I shoot.  But sometimes it might be fun.

And to think it was grey and misty with rain this morning...

EmmaCat

Emma is a feral kitty that we (on our street) trapped and took to our neighborhood vet (if Gus knew, he would be despondent, because Dr. Jones is his hero) for a free spaying.  Patti has consistently put out food and water and warm bedding for her (in the cold weather).  Emma is now a regular in my flower beds and it makes Gus crazy.  He barks and barks.

If you were to ask Gus, and if Gus were to answer, my neighbor Patti has been providing succor to the enemy.

Emma has worked up to going into Patti's house to visit or eat, but the door has to stay open.  Patti doesn't think she'll ever be an indoor kitty, but I think she will.  One day not too long ago, she forgot herself and let me pet her.  And when I turned around to close the front door behind me, she was on her way inside.

What was the point of this story?  It was my favorite photo from May 4th.

It's a Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood

My mother says that she would hear me talking when I was 2 or 3 and go see what was going on -  only to find I was visiting with Mr. Rogers.  I remember loving his show even when I was an older child and I'm sorry that many kids will never share those visits.  A blog I follow posted this and I had never seen it, so I'll share it with you now.
