There have been some new faces since the pinecone birdfeeders have come and gone. Seems like the big feeder and the suet feeder attract a different clientele.
I haven't seen one of these red-winged blackbirds in years.
How in the world are you getting close enough to photograph this little beauties? I saw a woodpecker this morning! There is a big telephone pole lying in the gutter in front of our house. I'm guessing the electric company has just found the rather large whole in the old pole where my woodpecker friend from last year had a grand time peck, peck, pecking away.
First, I picked trees in front of my guest bedroom windown. Then I have a lense that zooms in in a limited way and lets me get these. Then there are the dirty, old, wavy glass panes in my windows. I should wash them, I guess.
The red-winged blackbird is really cool. So are the others but I don't know what to call them, except, is one a chickadee? You used to love watching chickadees out the window at our feeder when you were a tot.
