iPhone Magnolia
I think this magnolia blossom is more interesting than a pristine, newly opened one. All I had was my iPhone. I promised myself I'd bring my big camera after lunch.
After lunch, there was no lovely sepia toned magnolia blossom. The landscape company had come by to groom the grounds before Sunday services. Apparently the blowers blew away the aging blooms.
There's a life lesson, or two, in there, isn't there?

Happy Mother's Day
We drove to my sister's and celebrated Mother's Day yesterday - my niece was taken with a neighbor's dog, Holly. She brought her over to visit, and Holly fit right in: napping with my brother in law (Holly, only briefly), chasing a ball with my niece and internet shopping with my older niece, retiring under the chair my mother sat in.
It was a great afternoon.
Happy Mother's Day.

Tulip Poplar
With the wind and the weird weather, I haven't seen many of these in one piece. In fact, there's a small piece over on the left. That orange design on the inside of the 'flower' looks like a Morrocan design.

Yorktown
Thomas Nelson house...the back door. Yorktown is lovely! We ate lunch in a building so historic the restaurant operators had to cook in another building.

Green
The first fireworks of Spring are fading in my yard, and the predominant color is green.
There's more green than blossom in the planter.
The strawberry bush (heart's a burstin) is loaded with buds. It'll have small, nondescript white flowers before the strawberry appears in late summer.
These are about to burst into white.
And the lavender blossoms sway on silvery sage colored stems.
And, am I the only one who didn't know about the honeysuckle shrub? This one must be 50 years old because it's a tree.
Til next time.

One Saturday in April
I love my yard in April. Especially the backyard.
The creeping jenny and the chocolate chip ajuga complement each other nicely, though the jenny is not playing nicely. It is trying to smother the ajuga. But it looks pretty now.
My neighbor's cherry trees are lovely.
Yes, my lot slopes. Somehow it looks more dramatic here. Yes I corrected for lens distortion.
LOVE the fern silhouette.
And the prehistoric looking fern forest.
Replanted the planters I've had for years - since an apartment in Montgomery. Egads, that was a long time ago.
View to the neighbor's side of the yard.
Gus reminds me of Ferdinand the Bull here. Sort of.
I thought the dogwood was going to die last year.
These guys are planted under the deck stairs: trillium from under the pines, solomon's seal and somthing I can't remember the name of.
I've always loved shooting into the light. When I saw this I imagined that it looked like the plants must feel as they soak up the sun.

Hometown Landmarks 2
This home sits next to the former Catholic church building - which was purchased years ago and named the Emporium. I never have been inside either the old Catholic church or this building, but always loved looking at them.
And by the way, the old Catholic church building was much more beautiful than the utilitarian replacement that was built out beyond the by-pass.

Hometown Landmarks
Many of the places I remember from my childhood are already gone. So, when I was visiting my family this weekend, my niece & nephews and SIL and I went on a photo drive. The object was to capture some of the landmarks I remember. This is one - and in fact, I look at the wonderful upstairs windows and imagine it as a great studio.

Flower Shows
From inside last week's flower show...
From outside St. Phillip's cathedral on Peachtree St. ...
I love these colors!

Dream House
I found my dream house at the flower show! Look - it's made almost entirely of vintage windows.
Succulents grow in insets in the metal roof.
It would be a perfect place to read. To enjoy watching a summer shower. Visit with friends.
Love!
